More matches postponed due to impact of storm leaving grounds wrecked

Various EFL, non league and cup matches have ended up being postponed this weekend either due to the weather or because of Covid-19.

Four English Football League clubs have had to call off multiple of their forthcoming fixtures as a player(s) have picked up the virus.

The same goes for non league clubs, with divisions called off or halted with the lockdown tiers and pandemic.

Weather has also turned rather gusty and wet, leaving pitches waterlogged or unplayable with a week to go until Christmas… and clubs at lower level really need cash of some sort to survive the tough times they are currently enduring.

This afternoon’s Championship fixture between Rotherham United and Derby County has been postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19, with players and first-team staff required to self-isolate in line with EFL and Government guidance.

The club has therefore informed the EFL it is unable to fulfil this afternoon’s fixture and the circumstances surrounding the postponement will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations.

Bristol Rovers players and first-team staff are required to self-isolate after an outbreak of the virus, which has left the League One side unable to fulfil their scheduled matches against Charlton on Tuesday and Oxford United on Saturday.

Peterborough United have confirmed that the club's next three League One fixtures have been postponed following a positive Covid-19 test within the squad. They are not now due to play again at the Weston Homes Stadium until the 2nd of January.

Five further individuals inside Sunderland's first-team bubble tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday; the League One club says it will not be able to fulfil its next three games against Shrewsbury, Blackpool and Hull.

Stevenage's next two League Two games against Tranmere on the 15th of December and Exeter on the 19th of December will now be rearranged.
