However, it has also been announced that there will be no spectators allowed into stadiums until a coronavirus vaccine is found.

A 50-page guidance document has been published, which details how England can ease lockdown measures.

Step two of that plan – which will not be allowed to start before the 1st of June – includes “permitting cultural and sporting events to take place behind closed doors for broadcast, while avoiding the risk of large-scale social contact”.

The document states that reopening venues that attract large crowds such as sports stadia “may only be fully possible significantly later depending on the reduction in numbers of infections”.

Premier League clubs have committed to finishing the season with plans for matches to be played behind closed doors at neutral venues already drawn up.

It looked as though the Championship would also continue but there are doubts for League One and Two over finances.

Also part of step two of the five-step plan are moves to allow more children back to school, re-opening some non-essential retail stores and the use of more public transport.

There continues to be problems with the Premier League’s plans, and it’s over the use of neutral venues, with the bottom six also anxious to have relegation taken off the table in the event the season cannot be completed.
