News has emerged in the last 24 hours that Billericay Town have ‘sacked’ head coach Harry Wheeler.
It has been said that owner Glenn Tamplin had giving him the chop by text just five minutes before the end of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Chippenham Town on Saturday.
It was Billericay’s first loss of the season but still currently sit third in the National League South.
Wheeler led the club to three trophies last season. The club are yet to release an official statement.
The Echo understands that head coach Tristan Lewis is set to lead the team at the AGP Arena today.
Back in February, controversial owner Tamplin sacked himself as manager after an FA Trophy defeat to Wealdstone.
However, 48 hours after stepping down, Tamplin reinstated himself, saying it had been at the wishes of the players.
Is this another publicity stunt? With the amount of drama that went on at Billericay last season, we wouldn’t be surprised if this was the start of another season full of bizarre stories to do with the club and/or Glenn Tamplin.
As the news started to spill out on social media, the football world expressed their shock, however some took to mock the ‘circus club’ – check out those tweets on the next page.
