Gary Neville and Bromley take aim at Boreham Wood with an urge put out there for the National League to step in over commentary rules.

Boreham Wood are insisting on charging £50+VAT to provide commentary, something that has been a problem for many clubs over the last few seasons.

Many, out of principal and in solidarity with the rest of non league football, refuse to pay this charge and as a result, there tends to be no commentary from the away side to fans but instead have to take to doing updates via tweets.

Bromley are the latest side to express disappointment in Boreham Wood, writing: “Unfortunately, there will be no commentary this evening due to rules set by the home side whereby we’d have to pay.

“Apologies for the inconvenience, but if you’re not making the trip, we’ll have updates on here as normal.”

This caught the attention of former footballer turned pundit Gary Neville, who said: “Hate stuff like this from opposing clubs! The League should step in.”

@GerardWatson77: I’m a B’Wood ST holder and don’t understand this, as far as I know we’re the only NL team that does it … except we don’t .. because visiting teams refuse to pay on principle. We gain nothing but the ire of the other clubs. Love B’Wood but not our stance on this.
