Gary Lineker spots unfortunate spelling of Christian Fuchs’ name on Leicester team sheet

Yesterday evening, Gary Lineker spotted an unfortunate spelling mistake of Christian Fuchs’ name on the Leicester City team sheet before they were defeated by Newport County.

Prior to kick-off, the League Two side handed out sheets which had both theirs and the Foxes’ teams to journalists who attended the game.

Not only did they get Ricardo Pereira’s name spelt wrong, but they spectacularly wrote Fuchs’ name as ‘Fucks’.

The tweet has gone on to be ‘liked’ nearly 40,000 times on Twitter and received 7,000 retweets and nearly 1,000 comments.

Newport caught on to the tweet and wrote back: “We get it. We’ve had a bit of a fuch-ing nightmare. Thanks Gary. Apologies @FuchsOfficial…”.

Lineker, who is also a Leicester fan, also uploaded footage he had taken of Newport fans celebrating a penalty scored by Padriag Amond which turned out to be the winning goal.

Jamille Matt headed in Robbie Willmott’s cross for a shock Newport lead just 10 minutes into the game.

The 82nd minute saw Rachid Ghezzal put in a rebound for the equaliser before Amond scored a penalty three minutes later penalty to regain lead after Albrighton’s handball.

The draw takes place on Monday night, January 7, at around 9:45pm following Wolves vs Liverpool.

Football fans gave an amusing reaction to the X-rated blunder, cracking many a joke or two before going to mock Newport County after they tweeted their apologies – take a look at what they had to say on the next page.
