Football League: Friendlies Review – 26th July

Now that the World Cup is over, it’s back to club football and pre-season is thankfully here.

Football League and Non League teams have started their friendlies earlier than Premier League sides with this summer’s tournament in Russia going on.

This roundup sees how majority of our EFL sides have got on in the last couple of days.

Take a look at the results along with highlights and summaries below and on the next few pages…

BARNSLEY 2-3 WEST BROM

Headers from Lloyd Isgrove and Kieffer Moore saw the Baggies two goals down inside just 11 minutes at Oakwell. However, goals from Hal Robson-Kanu, James Morrison and an own goal saw West Bromwich Albion come from behind to win an end-to-end friendly at Oakwell.

SHEFFIELD UNITED 1-1 INTER MILAN

Sheffield United held Italian giants Inter Milan to a 1-1 draw during their pre-season clash at Bramall Lane.

New Blades signing David McGoldrick marked his home debut by giving his side the lead shortly before the half-hour mark, before Mauro Icardi levelled things up again just seven minutes later.

GRIMSBY TOWN 1-0 DONCASTER

Grimsby Town got their first victory of pre-season as they beat League One Doncaster Rovers at Blundell Park.

A great strike from Reece Hall-Johnson on 22 minutes proved enough for the Mariners to cap a good performance with a win against a strong Doncaster side.
