Fans left laughing with Portsmouth’s solution to how the season could be completed

Fans left laughing with Portsmouth‘s solution to how the season could be completed which was explained in an article published on their site today.

The League One club inform their supporters that they have asked the EFL for permission to continue the rest of the 2019/20 season as a zorb football tournament.

Their statement read: “The use of zorbs would ensure players remain two metres away from each other at all times, making it the perfect way to resume the current campaign while still adhering to guidelines on social distancing.

“While we are yet to receive official confirmation from experts, we believe that this solution would be safe, logical, and most importantly of all, really funny to watch.

“To avoid games being played behind closed doors, each supporter will also be supplied with a zorb to use while watching from the stands at Fratton Park.

“(Please note that zorbs will only be available in sizes Small to XL.)

“After each home fixture, match-used zorbs will be signed by the players and made available to buy from the Pompey memorabilia store.

“Now that you’ve reached the end of our tedious April Fool’s Day joke, we’d like to reiterate the importance of staying indoors and sticking to government advice.

“More information on the coronavirus including how to stop the spread of the disease is available on the NHS website.

“Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.”
