Fans impressed after Margate appoint ex-National League manager

Fans have been left impressed after Margate yesterday confirmed the appointment of ex-National League manager Jay Saunders until the end of the season, replacing the departed Steve Brown.

He joins after he departed Maidstone United last year, guiding them to three promotions within his first managerial spell.

Margate chairman Terry Painter said: “I am very happy we have been able to bring Jay back to the club. I’m confident he will have a positive impact on the team in the coming weeks.”

Saunders added: “I’m delighted to be back with The Gate, I believe I can help the club climb the table as we enter the business end of the season. I can’t wait to start working with Mike and the players.”

Jay is a former player of The Gate, joining them back in 1998 when his was 19 and went on to make over 350 appearances during a ten year period.

Football fans gave plenty of reaction to the appointment, many of those surprised as well as impressed after he was previously getting linked with clubs much higher – check those tweets out on the next page.
