England finish runners up – Who do we play next?

England have, lets me honest, thankfully finished runners up in Group G after losing 1-0 to group winners Belgium, so what does that mean for the knockout stages?

The only goal of the game from Adnan Januzaj means England will play Colombia in Moscow, with the winner of that playing either Sweden or Switzerland in the quarters.

Belgium will play Japan in the next game, the winners will play Brazil or Mexico.

Take a look at how the game unfold and the England player ratings below…

Adnan Januzaj scored the winner with a brilliantly curled effort in the second half, with both sides fielding much-changed XIs from their previous games.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek miscued a free header for England and Marcus Rashford had a shot tipped wide by Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Both teams had already qualified for the knockout stages after winning their opening two matches and Red Devils boss Roberto Martinez said before the game “the priority was not to win”.

It was his side that carved out the better chances. Youri Tielemans tested Jordan Pickford with a dipping drive from long range and Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi had a close-range effort cleared off the line by Gary Cahill.

Marcus Rashford, one of the players to come on for England, missed a number of good chances, striking a free-kick over and curling wide in the second period.
