Egypt are looking likely to be heading home after losing 3-1 to Russia in the World Cup this evening.
It was goalless at half time, for the first time in the tournament, but the goals soon came as Russia scored three in 17 minutes as they hammered yet another team.
After a rather quiet first half, the second half started dramatically which saw Russia go 1-0 up on the 47th minute.
Aleksandr Golovin’s cross was punched clear by Mohamed El-Shenawy, but only as far as Roman Zobnin.
The Russian player took a terrible shot, which was way off target, and Ahmed Fathy turned the ball past his own keeper from about 12 yards out.
59th minute and it was Russia 2-0 Egypt. Mario Fernandes went down the right and squared to Cheryshev, who slammed home from 12 yards out.
3 minutes later, Russia grabbed a third. Artem Dzyuba controlled a high ball into the box, took it past a weak Ali Gabr challenge and placed the ball in the bottom right corner of the net.
With under 20 minutes remaining, Mohamed Salah stepped up and blasted a good penalty high into the back of the net to give what was only a consolation goal for Egypt.
All over and it meant Russia have officially had the best 2 game start by the host nation in World Cup history.
