David Prutton’s Championship score predictions

David Prutton’s Championship score predictions have been revealed this week, and yet again he’s proving to be controversial.

The former Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Leeds, Swindon, Sheffield Wednesday, and England U21 footballer who currently works as a presenter, pundit, and commentator has given his thoughts on the outcome of 10 Championship matches.

After looking at the majority of his predictions, it’s found that last season he was mostly accurate and that if you put the scores he’s gone with into a table, it is was similar to the Championship table. See what he scores he went with below…

Barnsley vs Huddersfield

This has all the makings of a cracking Yorkshire derby! Both sides are in a good position to have a god at this one, and it could be a very entertaining game with a few goals in.

Huddersfield will be feeling very confident after a great win against Watford, but I can’t split these two sides. I’ll go for a draw.

Barnsley: 13th – played 20 – won 8 – drew 4 – lost 8 – 28 points
Huddersfield: 12th – played 20 – won 8 – drew 4 – lost 8 – 28 points

Prutton predicts: 2-2

Blackburn vs Sheffield Wednesday

Blackburn suffered a tough narrow defeat at Stoke, and will want to bounce back after a rare occasion in which they didn’t score.

Sheffield Wednesday got a massive win last weekend. Could this be the belated start of the Tony Pulis era? I think they will be okay overall, but Rovers might just be too good for them.

Blackburn: 11th – played 20 – won 8 – drew 4 – lost 8 – 28 points
Sheffield Wed: 23rd – played 20 – won 4 – drew 6 – lost 10 – 12* points

Prutton predicts: 2-1

Bristol City vs Wycombe

Three defeats on the spin now for Bristol City. Are they the same streaky side they were under Lee Johnson? It is starting to look that way.

Wycombe are still picking up points wherever they can. They are the massive underdog in every game they go into in this league, and will give this as good a go as ever, but I fancy Bristol City to return to winning ways here.

Bristol City: 9th – played 20 – won 9 – drew 3 – lost 8 – 30 points
Wycombe: 24th – played 20 – won 2 – drew 6 – lost 12 – 12 points

Prutton predicts: 2-1

Cardiff vs Brentford

Cardiff came up against a Norwich side that were a little too good for them, so we can’t really read too much into that result from last weekend. They are a good side with plenty of quality.

Brentford are unbeaten in 13 games now, and are actually in a better position after 20 games than they were last season. Bryan Mbeumo looks to be back in top form, too, which should help ease some of the burden on Ivan Toney. They will be riding high after that win over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup as well. Away win here.

Cardiff: 10th – played 20 – won 8 – drew 5 – lost 7 – 29 points
Brentford: 4th – played 20 – won 9 – drew 8 – lost 3 – 35 points

Prutton predicts: 1-2

QPR vs Swansea

Seven without a win now for QPR! All does not seem quite right there. They just seem to lack a little quality in key areas of the pitch.

Swansea look excellent, particularly in defence. It’s been a pleasure to watch them this season because they do have a threat going forward. If they can find a striker to help compliment what they have in January, they will be a real threat for the top two. Away win!

QPR: 19th – played 20 – won 4 – drew 8 – lost 8 – 20 points
Swansea: 3rd – played 20 – won 10 – drew 6 – lost 4 – 36 points

Prutton predicts: 0-2

Watford vs Norwich

I don’t think its surprised anyone that Watford have a new manager in so quickly because that’s usually how they operate. It didn’t really work for Vladimir Ivic, and it will be interesting to see how they get on under Xisco Munoz. It’s a huge challenge for him.

Norwich were very good against Cardiff. They look relentless and settled at the minute, and Daniel Farke seems assured that none of their key men will be leaving in January. I feel they will march on with another victory on Boxing Day.

Watford: 5th – played 20 – won 9 – drew 7– lost 4 – 34 points
Norwich: 1st – played 20 – won 13 – drew 4 – lost 3 – 43 points

Prutton predicts: 1-2

David Prutton have predicted that this game will played out to 1-1 draw between the two sides.

Last weekend, Coventry travelled and lost 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday, whereas Stoke won 1-0 against Blackburn.

Coventry: 18th – played 20 – won 5 – drew 7 – lost 8 – 22 points
Stoke: 7th – played 20 – won 9 – drew 6 – lost 5 – 33 points

Derby vs Preston

David Prutton have predicted that this game will played out to 1-0 win in favour of Derby County.

The last time the Rams played a league fixture was Wendesday the 16th of December, winning 2-0 at home to Swansea, Preston played a few days later and won 1-0 against Bristol City.

Derby: 22nd – played 20 – won 3 – drew 7– lost 9 – 16 points
Preston: 15th – played 20 – won 8 – drew 2 – lost 10 – 26 points

Chris Hughton’s side drew 1-1 with Millwall last time out, whilst Birmingham were hammered 4-1 against Middlesbrough.

Nottingham Forest: 20th – played 20 – won 4 – drew 5 – lost 11 – 17 points
Birmingham: 17th – played 20 – won 5 – drew 7 – lost 8 – 22 points
