Clubs profit from FIFA World Cup compensation payments

The World Cup has been financially beneficial for Premier League and English Football League clubs who are set to receive a compensation sum for their players who were involved in the tournament.

Calculations have been done by Berlin-based communications specialists Tonka with regard to cash set aside by FIFA through their World Cup benefits programme.

Southampton will receive £824,000.

The Saints had five players at the World Cup.

Cedric Soares (Portugal) , Maya Yoshida (Japan) and Dusan Tadic (Serbia), Jan Bednarek (Poland) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Denmark).

Swansea City will receive £902,400.

The Swans had four players at the World Cup.

Kristoffer Nordfeldt (Sweden), Łukasz Fabiański (Poland), Martin Olsson (Sweden) and Ki Sung-Yueng (South Korea).
