Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge faces being renamed amid a potential ‘huge’ partnership, according to reports over the weekend.
Allianz are said to be interested in adding the Blues’ iconic home to their group of stadiums that they sponsor, and are looking in securing a long-term deal.
The German insurance company already have their name adorned across the stadiums of Bayern Munich and Juventus, and now looking to expand to English football.
The Daily Mail claimed that Allianz had been in talks with Chelsea over becoming their principal shirt sponsor from next season now that the deal with mobile network Three has come to an end.

Premier League officials also stopped Chelsea from linking up with American television network Paramount, leading to online casino Stake in potentially clinching a place on the front of Chelsea’s shirt for at least one year before new rules preventing gambling companies from doing so are enforced.
Throughout Allianz’s talks with the Premier League outfit, club chiefs were sounded out about a potential stadium naming deal.
And while the potential sponsor, who declined to comment on this report, are said to be seriously weighing up a ‘major, long-term partnership’, they still need to know more surrounding the future of Stamford Bridge after talks of a £2billion to develop Stamford Bridge as opposed to building a new stadium in the area of Earl’s Court.
Todd Boehly is looking to give the go ahead to the project once costs and time frames are set out.
Chelsea’s home could be the eighth different stadium to be sponsored by Allianz having already renamed thos in Munich, Turin, Sydney, Minnesota, Nice, Vienna, and Sao Paulo.
After Boehly’s consortium purchased the club for £4.25bn in May 2022, it was initially claimed that he would look to knock Stamford Bridge down.
According to The Sun in March, they had been in talks with the Chelsea Pitch Owners [CPO] and were waiting to see if they’d been successful with their £50m bid to buy land next to Stamford Bridge. Chair of the CPO, Chris Isitt, said: “The CPO is having positive talks with the club about redevelopment.
“We understand this is a complicated project which needs careful consideration, but we share the common aim, which is to have the best stadium in London.”
Building a new stadium on the current land was said to be the most popular vote among the fanbase and the CPO. The development project could to take as long as five years.
Fans reacted as Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge faces being renamed amid a potential ‘huge’ partnership…
@_aligoni_: Nahhh what ever you do, don’t touch my stadiums name please 😭
@OBriski153: I actually like this… Whilst Stamford Bridge is our home and rightly so, We need to move with the times to fight at the highest level. Will be interesting to see where this goes…
@allthingschels1: It’s Stamford Bridge. It always will be Stamford Bridge. I hope this helps. The only Allianz I know is the one we won at in 2012, let’s keep it that way.
@Sid_footyF1:
Allianz Stamford Bridge??
Stamford Bridge Allianz??
Stamford Allianz Bridge??
Nop I am not feelin it 😕
@spiritofchelsea: The idea of Allianz renaming Stamford Bridge doesn’t sit right with me. I hope it doesn’t happen. Stamford Bridge has to be in the name!
@Hutch10Chelsea: ‘Allianz Stamford Bridge’ I could live with, but Allianz bridge, stadium, arena or bowl would take away the club roots. Only a move away from the bridge could allow a renaming like that. Put me down as a no vote
@ralpha060461: Stamford Bridge is our home. Always has been always will be. It has a rich history and place in football annuls. Don’t ever sell your soul for money 💙
@LondonBalling: I know it’s heritage but everyone wants us to move forward and make as much money as possible until it comes to something like moving pitches or renaming stadiums. If we’re not going to let the owners improve us as much as we can, how are we ever gonna compete with RM, MC etc
@_CFCJohnny: Stamford Bridge should stay Stamford Bridge. I personally hate stadiums named after other companies, feels so fucking corporate and hollow
@jamiecleverly: Not for me this one, was wanting the shirt sponsorship but Stamford Bridge is Stamford Bridge and should never be changed for me.
@BluesSW6:
Bayern Munich 🇩🇪 – The Allianz Arena
Juventus 🇮🇹 – The Allianz Stadium
Chelsea 🏴 – The Allianz Bridge
If they want a major longterm partnership with Chelsea for the new 🏟️, the deal should bigger than their current partners, Bayern get €110M, Juve get €103M.
@ConnerT_: Anything other than Stamford Bridge just wouldn’t sit right with me personally
@melinadautovic: nah you cannot rename stamford bridge. i haaaaaaaate the soulless sponsored-naming of stadiums. upton park, highbury, white hart lane had character, man.
@LowbrowTakes: Happy enough for them to put their logo all over the building. But they ain’t renaming Stamford bridge!
@Rw_010z: Get fucked mate leave the bridge alone get the sponsor on the shirt before fucking up the stadium name
@adamkhanna7: Absolutely fucking not
