Chelsea produce incredibly quick comeback to beat Southampton

Chelsea came from 2-0 down against strugglers Southampton to beat them 3-2 in the Premier League this afternoon.

Dušan Tadić and Jan Bednarek’s goals put the Saints two goals up against last season’s champions after 59 minutes, but they blew their two goal lead after the Blues went and produced a incredible comeback to score three times in nine minutes.

Ryan Bertrand rounded off a lung-busting run down the left wing with a neat cut-back for Dusan Tadic, who slotted the ball home from just outside the six-yard box to make it 1-0 mid-way through the first half.

Saints doubled their lead early second half. Jan Bednarek, with his first goal on his first start, as he slotted home at the far post from James Ward-Prowse’s wicked delivery.

With 20 minutes on the clock, Olivier Giroud plants a superb header past Alex McCarthy and into the corner from a pin-point Marcos Alonso cross.

Chelsea dominated since Giroud’s goal and made it level thanks to Eden Hazard, who turned the ball home from close range after Willian’s low cross.

Olivier Giroud completed a spectacular comeback with another goal. A free-kick led to a bit of head tennis in the area before falling to Giroud, who dragged an half-volley into the corner from 15 yards.

Mark Hughes’ side remain in the relegation zone, three points from safety.

Chelsea are now seven points behind Spurs in fourth.
