Chelsea have been branded “disgrace” over their PA speaker’s choice of song after Frank Lampard’s exit earlier in January.
Thomas Tuchel took charge of his first match as Blues head coach against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, playing out a 0-0 draw, on Tuesday night.
The Premier League outfit have been branded a “disgrace” after playing Queen’s ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ over the Stamford Bridge tannoy ahead of their game with Wolves on Wednesday night.
Lampard was given the axe on Monday following a run of five defeats in eight matches, which has left the Blues sitting 9th in the Premier League table.
His sacking has not gone down well with Chelsea fans, who unfurled a banner at the stadium which read: “Circus continues”.
The fanbase so badly wanted the club to hold on to Lampard, understandably especially as he’s considered the greatest player in their history.
The final decision came down to Roman Abramovich, who saw enough to come to the conclusion of getting rid and with Tuchel up for grabs, he went in a got him.
Take make it just a little bit more awkward, reports suggest that Chelsea’s in-house DJ played Queen’s ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ hit over the Stamford Bridge PA system as both sets of teams warmed up ahead of Tuchel’s debut.
Lampard said after leaving the club: “I am disappointed not to have had the time this season to take the club forward and bring it to the next level,” he said after thanking Chelsea fans and praising the team’s achievements during his reign.
“I want to thank Mr Abramovich, the board, players, my coaching team and everyone at the club for their hard work and dedication, especially in these unprecedented and challenging times.
“I wish the team and the club every success for the future.”
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said after the 0-0 draw against Wolves: “I spoke in the dressing room and told everybody there was no room for disappointment or doubts. I was very happy with the performance energy-wise, we were structured and didn’t allow any dangerous counter-attacks against one of the most dangerous teams.
“We were very well-organised, brave, played with courage as a team both offensively and defensively, had a good impact from the bench and a very good attitude from the players who did not come on.
“It was hard work, but we never lost intensity and for that I am happy. If this is our starting point I’m looking forward to where we will end up.”
