Bury owner Steve Dale tells media that the club has been sold with hours until deadline

It has been revealed tonight that Bury owner Steve Dale tells various media reporters including BBC Radio Manchester that the club has been sold with hours until deadline.

More is to be confirmed but reports an hour ago claimed Rory Campbell, who worked previously at West Ham and Henry Newman who is co-founder of data firm C&N Sporting Risk has made a live bid to buy Bury.

Proof of funds provided to English Football League and now waiting on whether they will grant extension. He’s the son of Alastair Campbell and well connected in football.

Dale told the BBC earlier on Friday afternoon that he had found a “prospective buyer” who was “waiting for the EFL to come back to him on a few points”.

As the details unfolded, Chris Hall of ITV said: “Steve Dale has been telling some media that a deal has been done. The potential buyers have told James Frith MP that’s not the case. Yet. I must add though that there is a lot of confidence in this bid. This is Bury’s best hope. And it’s genuine. Bury MP James Frith on radio confirming that Steve Dale has accepted a bid but that the buyers still have a lot of questions about the financial situation. It’s now over to the EFL. Seems impossible that they could complete a sale by midnight. Needs an extension to the deadline.”

Jim White wrote: “Understand @buryfcofficial owner Steve Dale has accepted a takeover offer from a London-based group and is in process of notifying the @EFL – as yet unconfirmed.”

It has also been backed up by The Sun, PA Sport, BBC, the Mirror, Sky Sports and others.

EFL’s statement posted at 11:50pm on Twitter read: “The EFL has this evening received notification that Steve Dale has accepted an offer from C&N Sporting Risk for the sale of Bury FC.

“We are currently in discussions with the potential purchaser and await information to allow the Board to consider a request for an extension to Friday’s deadline.”
