Breaking Down The World Cup Prize Money

As we’re halfway through the group stages, we have taken a look at the amount of money each team receives depending on what stage they finish at.

FIFA will pay out an amazing $791m in combined incentives for the 2018 World Cup. That figure includes $400m for the national teams and an additional $391m for the various soccer clubs contributing their employees (the players) to the tournament.

The difference between the total prize money given between 1982 and 2018 currently sits at $771million.

17th-32nd) $8million – Fan reaction to the latest football news, gossip & funnies

For the teams that fail to qualify from the group stages, they receive $8million each, which is 32% of the total prize pot.
