Bournemouth star demands apology from referee John Moss for mocking him and teammates

Bournemouth star demands apology from referee John Moss for mocking him and teammates for where the club currently sit in the Premier League table.

The official was in charge of the Cherries’ league match at Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon, which the Blades ended up winning 2-1, leaving Eddie Howe’s side 16th and just two points above the drop.

Gosling believes Moss should apologise, branding the referee a ‘disgrace’ for saying ‘you’re having one’ in quite extraordinary claims.

The official allegedly mocked Cherries players over their relegation troubles and performance.

Gosling told the Bournemouth Echo: “The ref didn’t help. Giving soft fouls away and little comments to two or three of the lads didn’t help as well really.

“I thought it was very disrespectful what he was saying.

“It was just the little niggly ones and then the little sarky comments.

“The officials talk about respect at the start of the season and there was zero respect from Jon Moss on Sunday.

“I thought he was a disgrace. The comments that he made especially to me and one other player – talking about the relegation zone and ‘you’re still in the relegation zone’, ‘you’re having one’, ‘your team’s having one’ this and that and it was very, very disrespectful.”

When asked if the comments were made while the match was going on, Gosling added: “During the game, yeah.

“I think he should really come out and apologise because I thought he was a disgrace.”

It is understood Bournemouth are in discussions with the Premier League over the accusations made by Gosling.

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) – the body in charge of officiating in the Premier League – declined to comment when contacted on Monday.
