Aston Villa reveal two new proposed crests for fans to vote on – there is a clear favourite however judging by the comment section.
After months of reviewing different designs and concepts, the Premier League club had announced back in June that they would be getting rid of the badge which was first introduced in 2016.
It features a yellow lion with the AVFC lettering, similar to the badge that had been used from 2007, minus the ‘prepared’ slogan.
Nearly 13,000 Villa fans completed a digital survey to share their views on the old crest and Villa’s wider visual identity. That was a club-record response to any open request for input.
Season ticket holders and members will now have until Wednesday, November 9, to cast a vote for either crest option 1 or crest option 2.
Earlier this year, we announced our intention to begin the process of redesigning the current club crest.

CLUB STATEMENT:
Earlier this year we announced our intention to begin the process of redesigning the current club crest, alongside a wider visual identity review. Today, ahead of the weekend of football, we are launching a vote for season ticket holders and members – please take the time to consider the options and then cast your vote on your preferred crest before it closes on Wednesday evening.
Since the initial announcement we have been through an extensive period of consultation with a wide range of fans, which included hearing the views of over 12,600 supporters who took part in a digital survey, as well as gathering valuable insights through multiple in-person focus groups, including the FCG, randomly selected fans of various ages from those who initially registered their interest and international supporters.
Thank you to everyone who has taken time to share their views throughout – your input has played a huge part in the progress that has been made.
Following an expansive creative process and the conclusion of the fan consultation period, we are pleased to be able to present you with two newly designed crest options.
Redesigning our club crest is not a process we have entered into lightly, and we recognise that any change made today will have a uniquely long-lasting impact.
This is why we strongly believe it is the right of our fans to have a voice in the process and to ultimately help decide what our future club crest should be, both for next season, our 150th anniversary year and for many years beyond that. Season ticket holders and members now have the opportunity to vote on their preferred design.
The initial announcement of the review was positively received and supported by consistent feedback that our current crest does not represent our heritage or ambition well enough. By allowing you to vote on our next club crest now, and by completing this process in Autumn 2022, we will be in a position to go into the 2023/24 season with a club crest we are all proud of and that reflects our shared ambitions for the future of our club.
Please take time to review the video above, with additional content available here, and follow the link below to vote for your preferred club crest. We would urge all eligible fans to take up their right to vote and participate in this process.
The vote is open until 5.30pm on Wednesday, November 9 and is open to Aston Villa season ticket holders and members. If the page does not load it may be due to high volumes of traffic on the YouGov platform, please revisit again at a later time.
As mentioned, Aston Villa reveal two new proposed crests for fans to vote on – and there is a clear favourite…
@maxavfclove: let’s goooo new badge 😍😍
@andrewt_1982: Please vote for option 2
@FogOnTheTyne36: Option 2 is so much nicer
@TomJ___: Option 2. Thank you and goodnight
@AVFC1874ca: I do love that round one…
@Holte_ender1: Like both a lot, but Option 2 shades it.
@JPAvfc_: The first one is nice but the second one is amazing
@Stroppo97: OPTION 2 ALLLL DAY LONG
@Kkasir23: Option 2 and it’s not even close.
@samantha04_xox: Option 2 all the way 😍
@TheDuke1: Round badge it is 🔥
@VillansOpinions: I’m not impressed by either of them, but 2 is definitely the best of those two options though
@jendog17: Hate the lion facing to the right, and maybe it’s just because I’m used to the yellow on the current badge but they both look really dull and dark compared to what we’ve got at the moment. Give us a brighter round badge with the lion facing left and it’s perfect
This and its not even close 😍😍 pic.twitter.com/BnD1POcK3x
